Rachel Riley: Countdown's Susie Dent left ‘dizzy’ after fan sends letter covered in BLOOD

Rachel Riley’s co-star Susie Dent, 53, said the fan mail made her feel “dizzy” and insisted she couldn’t reveal what the message said.

She told The Mirror: "It made me dizzy thinking about it. It was a slightly strange one."

Her revelation comes after her Countdown co-star Nick Hewer, 74, recently revealed he had a pair of red knickers sent to him.

She added: “I’ve certainly not had any knickers – male or otherwise – that I know of.

“The team are wonderful, I think they probably check things before they pass them on.”

Susie also recently spoke out about the banter the Channel 4 cast have when filming for the daytime show.

The show veteran admitted Rachel, 32, is usually the one who warns the cast about their bad language.

Susie told The Metro: “It’s less swear words and more innuendo.

“Usually Nick [Hewer, the host] and I are blissfully unaware and Rachel tells us, ‘You can’t say that’."

Giving an example of their off-camera antics, Susie explained: “One day there had been a series of incredibly easy number games so Rachel didn’t have to do anything and Nick looked over to her and said, ‘Poor Rachel, she’s gagging for a hard one’.”

Rachel Riley admitted to finding it hard to remain professional when innuendos happen on set.

She told “Sometimes we have to re-do things.

“At the same time rude words coming out, I’ve got the gallery upstairs, who are the filthiest people that you’ll meet.

“Trying to make me laugh or if you’re trying to keep a straight face, there’s 10 people in your ear wetting themselves.

“Then it can be a bit harder.”

During a recent episode, Rachel Riley was left shocked when Nick informed her about an article he had read about a sleepwalker.

Nick told Rachel he had read about a male sleepwalker who reportedly stored a shotgun in a fridge.

He explained: “He lived in a sort of multi-occupant house, there was some of them who shared the kitchen.

“He was furious… because he had his own fridge and every day he got up and went to his fridge and someone had been at it in the night.

He added: “Anyway he got so infuriated that he installed… I think it was a bit over the top, to be quite frank with you, a shot gun in the fridge which went off when you opened the door.”

Querying Nick’s story, Rachel responded: “That can’t be a true story.”

Nick explained further details to the story, to which Rachel added: “It sounds like a Darwin award.”

Countdown continues weekdays at 2.10pm on Channel 4.
