Sophie Gradon: Love Island hunk Adam Collard reveals cast were told about star’s death

The 22-year-old took to Twitter on Tuesday, after it emerged that Sophie’s boyfriend Aaron Armstrong had been found dead.

His death came just weeks after the Love Island 2016 star was found dead at a property in Blyth, Northumberland.

Police confirmed: “At around 12.20pm today we received a report that a 25-year-old man had been found deceased at a property in Blyth.

“There is not believed to be any third party involvement and a report will now be prepared for the coroner.”

In his Twitter post, Adam paid tribute to the late couple, before explaining how show bosses had told the Love Island 2018 contestants about the sad news at the time.

In a tweet shared with his 35,100 followers, he wrote: “It was tragic to hear about Sophie during my time in the villa and even sadder to now hear about Aaron.

“Thoughts go out to all of the friends, family and loved ones.”

He continued: “You will be truly missed, rest in peace.”

Sophie previously revealed that she was friends with current Love Island star Ellie Brown, as she shared a capture of the star on Instagram, ahead of her debut in the villa.

Beside the snap, she wrote in view of her 502,000 followers: “… my mate Elle is landing in #loveisland no biggie”.

ITV2 paid tribute to Sophie at the end of an episode of Love Island 2018, after her death had been announced.

Caroline Flack, who hosts the show, also remembered the star in the following episode of the live TV show Love Island: Aftersun.

Marking the sad loss, the 38-year-old spoke about Sophie, while photos of her in the show played on a screen beside her.

Fighting back tears, she said: “Tragically this week we lost a beautiful soul in Sophie Gradon.

“She was a beautiful person inside and out.

“Everyone’s thoughts here at Love Island are with Sophie’s friends and family at this really terrible time.

“Sophie, we’ll never forget you.”

The former Miss Great Britain shot to fame back in 2016, as she made her debut in the Love Island villa.

Sophie made history on the TV show, as she formed the villa’s first same-sex couple when she coupled up with co-star Katie Salmon.

During her time in the hit reality series, she also struck up a romance with Tom Powell, before they later ended their relationship.

Following her death, Tom spoke out about finding out the sad news, as he revealed it had come as a “shock”.

The TV personality said: “I’m so shocked I didn’t have much to say.

“I spoke to her two weeks ago and she was fine, we were laughing and joking on Facetime, she told me she was dating someone new. She seemed happy.”

Love Island 2018 continues tonight on ITV2 at 9pm.
