A rapist burglar tied up his 69 year-old victim so tightly doctors had to amputate her hands and feet.

Charles Allen Rickman, 31, attacked the woman in the early hours of the morning last October after posing as a broken down motorist who needed to use her cellphone.

He then grabbed her and forced his way into her home in Bentonville, Ark., before binding her hands and feet with cord and raping her while threatening to kill her.

Rickman also battered the woman on the back with an object she believe to be a belt, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported.

The tightness of the rope and severity of her injuries left the woman facing potentially life-threatening infections, so doctors decided to amputate her hands and feet during two surgeries.

Recalling her ordeal Wednesday, the woman told jurors: ‘He grabbed me from behind.

‘He was really strong.

‘I was scared if I fully did not cooperate that he would kill me.’

The woman, whose arms were bandaged and who walked through the court on prosthetic legs, spent almost three months in hospital after the attack.

She told the court how she had previously been an active member of her community who loved gardening, and who had traveled to ten countries to do missionary work.

Rickman also testified Wednesday.

He is not contesting his guilt, and told jurors how he had snorted and smoked meth the evening before the attack.

In an interview with sheriff’s deputies played to jurors, he claimed he only remembered ‘bits and pieces’ about raping the woman.

He said he remembered spanking his victim with a belt, and abusing her with another object.

Rickman claimed he felt ‘disgusted with himself’ afterwards, adding: ‘I was so out of it on drugs that I was not in the right frame of mind.’

Bateman is charged with aggravated residential burglary, kidnapping and rape.

The hearing continues.
