Man 'attacked wife with chainsaw in front of their three young sons'

A father was left ‘showered in blood’ after he attacked his wife with a chainsaw in front of their three children, police say.

Alejandro Alvarez, 32, allegedly hacked at his wife Gloria Mojica’s arm with the powertool as his three young sons aged five to ten watched.

The horrific attack two of the youngsters covered with blood, and their stricken mother screaming for help.

It happened at the family’s home in Whittier, Ca., Wednesday afternoon – with Alvarez now on the run from police.

Mojica was seen stumbling out her front door and towards the gate shortly after with a ‘mangled arm,’ according to ABC7.

Neighbor Mike Pickle said: ‘It looked like she had some really bad lacerations on her arm.

‘She was just covered in blood here and all down the front of her.’

Mojica was then rushed to a trauma center for surgery. Her condition is unknown, and police have not commented on a possible motive for the attack.

Another neighbor, Enrique Avila recalled: ‘We hear a lady scream, “Help me! Help me! Call 911.”

‘She was going outside and I saw kids with blood and everything.

Eyewitness Raquel Sanchez said she saiw Alejandro Alvarez, 32, looking as if he had been ‘showered in blood’ as he left the house.

He reportedly fled in a car and drove off, but crashed into another vehicle 10 minutes later in Santa Fe Springs.

Alvarez is then said to have stolen a Mercury Mountaineer SUV, with police warning that he is armed and dangerous.
