Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp issues Manchester City warning

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool are not interested in finishing second in the Premier League this season.

The Reds are tipped to push Manchester City all the way in the Blues' bid to retain the title for the first time.

Liverpool kept City out at Anfield last weekend, with Riyad Mahrez sending an 85th-minute penalty high over the crossbar to keep the scores level.

And Klopp insists Liverpool have their focus trained on securing a first league title since 1990.

"In most sports, coming second in the Olympics you come home with a silver medal," Klopp said.

"In football, it's nothing. And it's nothing for me as well. I want to win it, and I know that's a responsibility.

"I put all I have, knowledge, passion, heart, experience, I throw everything into the club 100 per cent. I don't keep anything back.

Liverpool lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid last season and Klopp is still to clinch his first silverware since taking over three years ago this week.

But the German is confident his methods will garner success on Merseyside.

"It should work, actually, at one point. But until then, we should have a really good time."
