Manchester United handed big Toby Alderweireld boost and more transfer rumours

Tottenham are open to selling Manchester United target Toby Aldeweireld this summer and the defender is keen to Jose Mourinho's side, according to reports.

The centre-back is one of Mourinho's top defensive targets this summer and United failed following earlier negotiations to land the Belgium international.

However, Yahoo report United have been given encouragement that a compromise can be reached with the defender's advisers making it clear they want to finalise a deal before the transfer window closes on August 9.

It is thought the player won't make an announcement about his future until after the World Cup but with the tournament coming to an end at the weekend and Belgium's last game on Saturday, talks with United are expected to resume in the coming days.

In other news, De Telegraaf reports Ajax and United are approaching an agreement over Daley Blind, who could return to Amsterdam ‘in the next 48 hours’.

Blind has been linked with a move to his former club all summer and the report claims they hope to get a deal finalised before the squad fly to America on pre-season tour.

Ajax are hoping to get a deal wrapped up quickly which could lead to the likes of Demetri Mitchell and RoShaun Williams getting more playing minutes on tour.

Blind, 28, has entered the last year of his United contract and is free to leave. He started only four Premier League games last season and three of them were in August. The other was against Watford in the last game of the campaign.
